At right is another view of a treeless Gethsemane Valley showing the "tomb" of the Blessed Virgin. At left is a monastery "attraction" that is long gone--the Chapel of St. Paschal. Where this was I don't know. Several sites have been demolished or closed off over the decades. The two guys in white are Knights of Mount St. Sepulchre. The friar standing with them is possibly Godfrey Schilling, OFM, the founder of the monastery. Back to Home.

Walking to the monastery from Metro Red Line Brookland Station or Shrine/Catholic U. is possible, but not recommended The neighborhood is not the safest. The Monastery has two lots with ample parking for most events.
Masses:
Sundays: 5 pm Sat. vigil, 8 am, 10 am, Noon; Holy Days: 5 pm vigil, 6 am, 7 am Weekdays: 6 am, 7 am
Tours of Church and Catacombs: Hourly weekdays: 9am-3pm except Noon, Sundays: 1 pm-3 pm. Large tour groups are welcome, but call in advance. Donations are appreciated.
